The British Columbia Association for Living Mindfully (BCALM) is a non profit society dedicated to facilitating increased mindfulness and reduced stress in homes, schools and workplaces throughout BC.

Based in beautiful Victoria, BC, and collaborating with physicians, mindfulness facilitators, educators and researchers throughout the province, we offer classes, workshops and retreats in meditation and mindfulness based stress reduction and management for children, youth and adults.

Our programs and research focus upon the health benefits of mindful awareness, compassion, and acceptance. These skills allow participants to better navigate common challenges such as depression, anxiety, chronic pain and chronic disease.

BCALM, Mindfulness meditation, Victoria British ColumbiaThe Art of Living Mindfully (ALM)
This 8 week course provides participants (20+ y/o) with a firm grounding in mindfulness based strategies useful in navigating stress and in recognizing patterns of thought, speech and behavior that may be contributing to stress and suffering. Home meditation practice is a major component of this course in order to embody concepts learned in class and to then apply them into life. Exercises focusing upon mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy complement the meditation practice and allow participants to further explore key concepts of inquiry, acceptance, non-attachment, compassion, loving kindness and non judgement.

is regularly held in different community locations throughout Victoria and in the Comox Valley for patients with stress related physical or mental health challenges who are referred by a physician. 

BCALM, Mindfulness meditation, Victoria British ColumbiaThe ALM course is also offered to groups of people from different workplace environments (corporation, nonprofit, government agency, education..) who are challenged by stress and its personal, social and occupational effects. Stress management has been shown to reduce workplace errors and sick days, and to improve workplace performance, collegiality and job satisfaction.

The Art of Living Mindfully — A course in mindfulness based stress management
This 8 week course provides participants with a firm grounding in mindfulness based strategies useful in navigating stress and in recognizing patterns of thought, speech and behavior that may be contributing to stress and suffering.
